Conferences on paper 1
Hi everyone. I thought I'd take this space to explain a bit more about my expectations and hopes for conferences:
As always, I'm available via email for questions.
- First, I'd like you to come to your conference with all your drafts of your paper, including the one your peers wrote on.
- Second, I'd like you to come with a pen because it's really important to take notes on what we discuss. I've had a lot of feedback from students in the past that they found the conferences really helpful, but wished they had taken notes so they'd remembered more. Now you can learn from their mistakes. :)
- Third, I'd like you to come with some real, substantial questions about your paper. Think: what particular issues are you having? One of the objectives of this class is to help you look more constructively and critically at your own writing. The better you can pull apart your own writing and ask questions about it, the better it will be. This goes for writing at all levels, by the way.
